Patsy Ruth Miller, Coleen Gray MOTHER (1978) RARE film

A Rare Find by L. Sinclair / NYC News
Patsy Ruth Miller came out of a 30 year retirement to play the title role of Mother. Patsy was Esmeralda in "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" (1923) with Lon Chaney. Film noir icon Coleen Gray ("Red River", "Death of A Scoundrel', "Riding High" etc.) had the lead as the daughter wanting to place her Mother into a home for the old and aged. Rounding out the cast was Dallas Hill, as the comic relief "Matron" of the proposed institution.
Mother is a whimsical tale about dreams and dreams come true. It was also a wonderful premise to see the two veterans Gray and Miller on the screen. Both are sometimes over-looked "screen gems" and their performances are genuinely beautiful.
The film was shot in 5 days in Houston, Texas of 16mm, black and white. It had its premie at NYC MOMA. It was written for the three leads by Brian Pinette who also wrote & produced.
Now it is available on DVD along with "The Hunchback of Notre Dame." For information contact: damienrecords@gmail.com. Paypal is accepted.
