Cedar Park, Texas does NOT pay Council Members a Salary - they work FREE

As the City Attorney for the City of Cedar Park, Texas I have been given a copy of your email to Mayor Lemon requesting his salary information as Mayor of Cedar Park. You also indicate that such information is of public record and you gave the Mayor 72 hours to comply or you will go to the press. You are absolutely correct that salary information of public officials is a public record. The City of Cedar Park does not pay its Council members a salary and therefore there is no record to provide. On your 72 hour requirement State law gives any municipality 10 business days to determine if it wants to assert to the Attorney General, that the request is invalid. Otherwise it has a reasonable time to comply. Perhaps a bigger issue is that your request to the Mayor does not constitute a valid public information request. It should come to the City Secretary or myself. However, I have given you the correct information you asked for. I want to assist you in any manner I can so please contact me at your convience as the occasion may arise.
